Dr. Cath Munro

We are very happy to add Dr. Cath Munro to our team. She will be taking on the role of Chief Medical Officer providing clinical supervision and medical guidance to the team
Cath Munro is a GP and BMS Menopause Specialist. She has worked in the NHS for nearly 30 years and as a GP for nearly 20 years.

Cath graduated and qualified with Honours from Manchester University and initially trained as a Urologist for 5 years, before becoming a GP. She then worked as a GP with Specialist Interest in Urology, focusing particularly on female urology and pelvic floor health. She has maintained an interest in women’s health throughout her career, focusing on contraception and hormone health.

She has held a number of regional and national non-clinical roles throughout her career, in commissioning and service transformation.

She is an experienced educator, support many trainees to become GP’s throughout her career. She is also a British Menopause Society trainer, training other clinicians to become menopause specialists. She works tirelessly in Lancashire and South Cumbria to promote women’s health and to educate other clinicians in women’s health.

She also coaches new to practice GP’s to support them as they start out in their careers.

She is keen to promote community and holistic approaches to women’s health, setting up the South Lakes Menopause and Wellbeing Facebook group with some equally passionate women in Kendal. She runs regular events and talks in South Lakes, focusing on all aspects of women’s health.

She has contributed to several books on Menopause and running.

When she isn’t working, she might be found out running, strength training in the gym or bouldering. Or she might just be at home gardening and looking after her chickens, bees and sausage dog, Jerry.
