Mindful Movement Workshop

After the success of our healing run workshops last year and the feedback we have received, Renee and Lauren (sadly Jenny can’t make it this time but will be back!) want to bring you the Mindful Movement Workshop.

Please come and join us for a day of connection with nature, ourselves and each other to find calm and acceptance

We live in a society where the message is often “do more, be more, have more” which can leave many of us struggling with a sense of unworthiness and loss of who we are and what we truly want from life. We turn against ourselves through intrusive thinking and search for answers in unhelpful behaviours.

Through movement in nature and mindfulness we will explore our inner worlds and demonstrate how each and everyone of us has goodness within us and how we can move away from punishing regimes and learn to use more nurturing practices that help us thrive and find our sense of belonging. We will explore our hormonal health, appreciating how powerful these chemical messengers are and how they can influence not only how we feel but also how we think. We will spend some time understanding how to support and maintain an optimal rhythm regardless where you are in your hormonal journey, but also how to harness them for health and vibrancy.

Speakers

Renee is a leading Sports Dietitian and Eating Disorder Specialist with over 20 years of experience working in clinical and performance nutrition.

Renee is the Nutrition Lead for both the English and Scottish National Ballet where she was actively involved in producing the consensus statement about the management of REDs in Dance. She works with a number of other teams and brands including Hour 7, The North Face and premier league women’s football, providing nutritional and clinical guidance for both performance and health.

She is passionate about working with athletes and their health and regularly provides expert commentary on understanding how the body works, optimising hormonal health and how this impacts our performance.

On top of this Renee specialises in supporting individuals and athletes of all levels and ages, coaches, and sports science teams to provide nutritional strategies to enhance sports performance and manage eating disorders and REDs. This is reflected in her work on social media too, priding herself on proving an educational hub for both the professional and everyday athlete.

Renee has recently completed her Mindfulness Training in clinical practice which she uses within her holistic approach, alongside assessing hormonal health, and other key biomarkers, to help athletes and individuals both physically and emotionally.

Renee is also a best-selling author, with her most recent book, More Fuel You which is already on its 3rd print run since publication in June 2022.

She writes a monthly column for Runners World and is often asked to comment and provide technical support on documentaries, News and Media. She was the clinical advisor for the BBC documentary, Freddie Flintoff: Living with Bulimia.

She is an ambassador for outdoor brand Montane and also a trustee for Black Trail Runners, supporting and advocating the importance of increased diversity and accessibility to minority groups to the outdoors.

When not inspiring others with her incredible work, Renee can be found running the mountains and chasing the trails, most likely training for a crazy ultra-marathon. In 2022 she became British Trail Running Champion in her age group over the short course and 3rd female at The Spine Sprint. Last year she came 4th female and had a top 10 finish, racing in Upper Mustang, Nepal.

Lauren is a Mountain Leader, outdoor swim coach, run and multisport coach.

Growing up in the Lake District, she feels a  connection to the area and is where her love of nature and the outdoors began, and she ensures that she lives and works in alignment with her core values.

As a youngster, Lauren raced competitively in fell/mountain running and triathlons. Now, she can be found adventuring in the hills and at an odd fell race.

Lauren’s coaching work was born out of a passion for creating spaces in which others thrive. She also champions the work of Anti Racist Cumbria and Black Trail Runners, making sure outdoor spaces are welcome and enjoyed by everyone.

Lauren also works part time for a conservation charity (Morecambe Bay Partnership) and volunteers for Trash Free Trails, who are both on a mission to reconnect people to nature.
