Dr Bernadette Dancy is a Health and Exercise Coach specialising in stress management and burnout using lifestyle interventions. Bernie has a PhD in Sport Psychology, a Masters degree in Lifestyle Cardiology as well professional qualifications in Personal Training and Exercise Referral. Prior to working as a Health Coach Bernie spent 15 years as Senior Lecturer at St. Mary’s University in London, teaching Health and Exercise Science at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as overseeing a Healthy Lifestyle Clinic and Exercise Referral Pathway for patients with chronic illness.
A keen runner herself, and a huge advocate of running for mental health, Bernie believes we need to start talking more honestly about how adding training stress to over-stretched resources can exacerbate mental illness and damage our overall physical and mental health. As such, Bernie is also a Co-founder of ‘RunWell’ (a group that aims to educate the growing number of recreational runners about the impact adding training stress to life stress) and Expert Advisor for ASICS’ Movement for Mind programme (an international research project investigating the impact of movement on stress and mental health in the workplace).
